Wednesbury Under 11's 20 - 15 Handsworth Under 11's

Sunday 30th March Handsworth under 11’s fielded a team of warriors against Wednesbury under 11’s (with 3 or 4 elder on their behalf).

The game started with a Wednesbury kick off, Josh Keenan caught the ball and started the ball running. Taking 3 or 4 players to stop him, he went to the ground as Handsworth pack went charging through. Tennal Tin laid the ball off to Conor Rowe who in turn laid it off to James Mahon who ran through the Wednesbury back line like a rampaging bull. Jake Burns securing the ball in the ruck, letting Jacob Bromwich (man of the match) go on a charging run, which was one of the many run’s he did all match.

Handsworth were caught short when Wednesbury ran in a try. Jamie Kirkby’s  line outs were spot on, Elliot Lowe catching everyone thrown his direction. Miles Leckie set up a ruck and bounced off his would be tackler giving the ball to Ellie Mahon who was unfortunate not to capitalist with some awesome running.

Handsworth gave away another try.

James Mahon set off on a run from deep inside his own 22 to score, a feat he repeated shortly afterwards.

 Lewis Lowe himself went on a run from his own try line up the blind side taking Wednesbury by surprise only to get caught deep inside the Wednesbury 22. The awesome Handsworth pack secured the ball again, using quick hands through the backs they finally found Dominic Rayment who seemed to dodge, weave and sidestep every Wednesbury player (some twice!) to score.

Conor Ford was strong in defence and in attack, running the ball out of defence. Handsworth finally lost four tries to three, the score does not reflect the game as we had most of the possession even when they had their 13/14 year olds on the pitch. Pound for pound we were by far better, with Abigail Phillips coming off the bench to put in a strong performance.
