Ron Anderson MBE

Ron sitting in CQ's corner, as he does most saturdays.

It is with great pleasure that I can confirm that Ron Anderson has been awarded the MBE in the New Years Honours List for: acquiring International Tickets, talking sense, supporting Handsworth RUFC by drinking regularly at the bar and generally being a very nice person.

Being the shy and modest person Ron is I had to force out the information below, and even then he forgot to mention he was an ex President of the Club!

Very young - Tynemouth Grammar School various forward positions

1945-1948 - RAF Gloucester- Hooker-(that was the only vacancy)

1948-1957 - Percy Park Rugby Football Club - Open-side wing forward.

1957 - Hit a very fast tree one night (2am) and stopped playing rugby

1962 Moved to the Midlands .

Non playing activities but connected with rugby

1964 North Midlands Referee Society.

1971 Took Bob Anderson and Steve Davies to join Handsworth Rugby Club
